Noelie Moran set the foundation for the current era of Westport United’s success. He brought a focus and standards, and he put in place systems that weren’t there previously that have been continued on. Obviously, Kevin Cusack and Pádraig Burns did a fantastic job and brought it on even more, and the two boys that are there now – Kieran Mulchrone and James Fahy – have been superb. They’re Westport through and through.
Winning last year’s Connacht Cup was a huge achievement. Because there was huge pressure on them (more pressure than there was this year) and I don’t think the current team is as good as the one that went around the country in the FAI Junior Cup campaigns. But you can’t argue with what they’re achieving.
