Westport Squash Juniors make waves in Salthill

In something of a sporting first, Westport Squash Club’s juniors competed in  the Connaught Junior Close Championships at Galway Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday 16th February 2014. The novelty did not end there. In the club’s first competitive foray at junior level the journey proved to be well worth it. Stephen Walsh (U15), Conor Galvin (U13) and Conor Walsh (U11) all won their grade and Ray Walsh chipped in with runner up in the U13.

Enormous credit is due to the players, their parents and particularly Gerry Galvin and Pat O’Donoghue who have coached the lads through what has been a long winter. There is no doubt that further success awaits these young players if they continue to apply themselves as they have done. More challenges await but they have a solid platform from which to build.  The club continues to welcome new members and would earnestly request that parents also become involved.
